 Yakuza Kiwami PC
If that wasn’t enough (and if you’re not familiar with the overwhelming amount of content in a Yakuza game, well, you’re in for a treat), we’ve added in some new diversions to spice up the streets of Kamurocho, including: Pocket Circuit car racing, MesuKing: Battle Bug Beauties, new hostesses, and more.
So, to recap where we are — Yakuza Kiwami includes new graphics, new voice, new combat, better mission/quality of life improvements, and a roaming nemesis. Sounds good, right? Well, we’re barely scratching the surface:
“But John,” you say. “I’m a Yakuza fan since the original and I know this game backwards, forwards, and inside out!” Don’t fret! Because in addition to all the other things we’ve added, there’s also ~30 minutes of new cutscenes to add in some interesting character depth for the game’s critical path (main story), and best of all — the story adds in some threads that help tie in Yakuza 0!

Frostpunk PC

Frostpunk, a new game from This War of Mine and Anomaly developer 11 Bit Studios, is taking a more serious (but still fantastical) approach to what survival means in a video game. The Polish studio’s new title, coming to Windows PC in 2017, focuses on “empathy and decision-making rather than optimization and resource management,” its creators say. The world of Frostpunk imagines what culture and society would look like in a dangerous frozen world where steam-powered technology has been developed in order to fend off the inescapable cold. According to its developer, Frostpunk will feature “complex and demanding gameplay” where players will face tough moral choices. “This is a deeply serious game created for a mature gamer,” said creative director Michal Drozdowski in a release. “Looking back at This War of Mine, we’re pushing boundaries even further, but we’re not pointing at reality in the same fashion. We’re putting human nature under a microscope to ask about what happens when people need to stay alive.” According to 11 Bit, Frostpunk will feature strategy and management elements, but will be an “emotion-driven” game. Details are scant, but a teaser trailer for the game offers a look at the game’s vibe. 11 Bit’s This War of Mine, on which Drozdowski was lead designer, featured a unique take on survival gameplay when it was released in 2014. In that game, players assumed the role of a civilian in a city besieged by war, fighting for resources like food, medicine and shelter while avoiding soldiers and other scavengers.

Get Even PC
A new breed of first-person action game, Get Even subtlety removes the classic division between single-player and multiplayer experiences to unfold two linked stories. The game’s plot revolves around the memories of its central heroes which have a dramatic effect on how the game progresses. The route the player chooses to follow determines their personality as the game unfolds. The carefully crafted storyline mixes elements of thriller and horror with exploration. As these personality traits are revealed, the merging of single-player and multiplayer elements tighten. When players embark on a single-player mission, others on the network can join the quest as enemies, so players never know whether their opponents are human or CPU-based. This suspense further heightens the player’s feeling of a threat. To create the photo-realistic visuals that bring the gritty universe to life, Get Even is the first game to use large-scale, real-world scanning to create expansive and lifelike environments. This 3D scanning technology combines with advanced lighting effects to create a stunning and believable world that pushes the boundaries of the genre.

Injustice 2 PC
Point 1: Injustice: Gods Among Us wasn’t announced for PC either. And yet, here it is. The same goes for Mortal Kombat IX. In both cases we got the Complete Edition with all the DLC, and they mostly worked fine. The only time NetherRealm have released a game for PC day and date with the consoles was Mortal Kombat X, and that did not go down well.Point 2: There’s still a year to go. Injustice 2 has a vague release date of “2017” and literally anything could happen in that time. Mortal Kombat X might get a huge patch and the final DLC pack, Marvel might announce a competing fighting game that’s also on PC and DC wants to catch up, or more likely Warner Bros and NetherRealm are trying to work out whether they can release a polished experience for PC if they release that version the same day as the consoles. They haven’t technically announced a release date at all yet, and PC gets announced late all the time: Quantum Break wasn’t originally meant for PC either, yet that came out the same time on Xbox One and PC too.

Vietcong - PC
Up until a couple of years ago, the humid jungles of Vietnam were all but uncharted territory for gaming. But all of a sudden Vietnam games are all the rage. Developed by Czech Republic-based Pterodon Team, Vietcong is neither the first such game to be released, nor will it be the last, considering that at least one other Vietnam shooter is currently in development. It’s an odd trend on the one hand, but on the other, the appeal of this subject matter makes a lot of sense.

Rising Storm 2 Vietnam PC
Tripwire and Antimatter Games aren’t interested in describing why the Vietnam War was fought, only how it was fought: tunnels, traps, napalm, and loud ass helicopters splashing the tops of jungle trees. I flew one of those helicopters, a Huey, and nervously landed it—wobbling and skidding—in a cleared patch of jungle to unload a squad near a vital capture point. I took off while my troops ran, and then from somewhere in the brush a rocket-propelled grenade whizzed into the air, into my rotor. It was all flames and trees after that. The title of a ’70s war movie could have been overlaid on my wreckage right then.Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, the follow up to Rising Storm and the Red Orchestra series of realism-focused multiplayer FPSes, is mostly the tension part of the war movie. It’s a lot of slow, creeping movement, a lot of thinking about my positioning and the enemy’s positioning, and then a burst of action—automatic rifles and explosions and the part where a bunch of extras die. (You’re the extra.)And it isn’t strictly from an American perspective. As with the other games in the series, Antimatter (which is based in Cornwall), is not taking sides: this is all about weapons and tactics, a reenactment of war that cares only about how these very different armies won and lost and whether or not we can get into their heads and play out their movements.

Robo Recall PC
Here’s our first look at Robo Recall, a virtual reality robot shooter built for Oculus Touch that Epic Games will be releasing for free in early 2017. It’s pretty shiny.Announced today at Oculus Connect 3, Robo Recall is the spiritual successor to the Bullet Train demo Epic released at last year’s Oculus showcase. The developer’s first full-featured virtual reality game sees players using a variety of weapons to dismantle an army of robots that have obviously gone off-script.Players will partake in a series of increasingly challenging missions. The game will feature leaderboard support via the Oculus SDK, as well as a sandbox mode for players to practice their robot destruction skills without limits.

All the Delicate Duplicates PC

What’s your favourite thing about spacetime? Mine is that it… goes… wobbly? Sorry, I just had the strangest feeling. Anyway, I’m here to say that time-bending first-person mystery All The Delicate Duplicates [official site] has a release date – it’s coming out February 17, whereupon we are promised that wobbliness will occur. It will tell the story of John, a computer engineer, as he inherits a bunch of strange objects from ‘Aunt Mo’. Along with his daughter Charlotte, he starts to notice that… he starts to notice that… Excuse me, I’m just getting the strangest sensation.
All the Delicate Duplicates is an Adventure game, developed by Mez Breeze and published by One to One Development Trust – Dreaming Methods, scheduled to be released in 2017.

Divide PC
From the outset, my goal was to make a game that told a compelling story about an ordinary person thrust into extraordinary circumstances. This is the foundation of Divide. But we also wanted Divide to be an action story, and that meant combat; mechanics to play and master with risk and reward. We knew we wanted the game to call back to isometric adventure games, and the controls to borrow from dual-stick shooters.
It was important for the controls to be concise and anchor your fingers to the buttons to keep every action, from shooting to interfacing with an augmented reality world, available without multitasking any given finger or thumb.
Something we really enjoy about Divide is the process of discovering the story through an atmospheric dungeon crawl. Opening locked doors, breaking into long-abandoned computer systems, and rummaging through dimly lit complexes make up the bulk of the experience. The main character, David, voiced by Tom Everett Scott (That Thing You Do, Southland), comes from our world, and when he is swept into the momentum of the story, he knows as much as the player.

Aliens aren’t new to the massively multiplayer online gaming arena, but they’re certainly not as prevalent as elves and gnomes. Tabula Rasa helps balance things out even further, with its universe of secret extraterrestrial artifacts, chainguns, and hulking space creatures. But it isn’t just the setting that makes the game interesting: An action-oriented combat system and a unique Battlefield-esque system of control points add some flair to the proceedings.
